Roma vs Sassulo Match Preview

Serie A: Roma vs Sassulo

Coming off a loss to Juventus in Turin in which Roma were denied by misfortune several times Roma prepare for the last game of the year as they host Sassuolo. This game would be the first time Di Francesco would face off against his former club.

The current Roma boss managed the Neroverdi from 2012-2017 taking them on the most impressive run Sassululo had ever had in Italian football. Di Francesco took Sassuolo from Serie B to the Europa league in one of the biggest Underdog stories in football history. On Saturday night Roma will host his old side at the Stadio Olimpico in a game which is very important for the Romans. Roma continue to have countless chances to score goals but there finishing in front of goal simply just isn’t good enough with the players they have there is no reason why they shouldn’t be finishing off their chances. Its some what unchartered territory cause usually they don’t have any issues with it very it well could be psychological. However Roma have hit the cross bar a league high 17 times if half of those went in this wouldn’t even be a problem.

Sassululo comes into this game having won three of the last four while Roma have struggled a little bit recently. However despite that Roma at home are very strong and their defense are very difficult to get past with Alisson in goal Roma have been the best defense in the country. Roma understands how important it is that they collect all thee points wanting to keep pace with the rest of the title race it is very important that Roma get the win. Roma beat Sassuolo twice last season and they certainly have the tools to do that game despite their poor From. Roma leads the head to head and has won 5 out of their last match 8 matches against having not lost a single game over that stretch. Roma should line up with the Roman speedsters on the wings Sassululo wont be able to deal with the pace of El Shaarawy and Perotti.

The key players here will be Florenzi and Kolarov as they can push the defense forward to help give Dzeko service; Roma really need to get Dzeko scoring again once he starts banging them again Roma will be able to get back into form once again. Radja Nainggolan in for a big game I feel everything flows through him if he is able to do what he wants to do the Roman attack should get all the looks they want. I also see De Rossi being rested for the last game of the year he is an older player I think he isn’t as needed as in other games I expect either Gerson or Pellegrini to full in for him. Also having Cengiz Under and Patrik Schick off the bench Roma will have more then enough to come away three points. If Fazio and Manolas can keep Sassuolo star Domenico Berardi in check Sassululo will find it difficult Berardi is very talented and young if he is slowed down it will become a lot harder to get something from the game. Roma needs to finish their chances if they can Roma will end the year with a win.
