Juventus vs Roma: All you need to know about this Serie A fixture
Days after Roma’s loss to Torino in the Coppa Italia the big one has arrived. One of the biggest club clashes in Italian football is back as we will surely see jam-packed Juventus Stadium on Saturday Night with Defending champions Juventus host last years Runner’s up A.S Roma in a prime-time matchup. In Italy, we have the Roman Derby the Milan Derby and the Turin Derby this is no derby but the rivalry and hatred very much exist these teams do not like each other and we will certainly see a tense match between some of the best Italy has to offer.
These two teams have been going at it for years Roma having played second fiddle in many of Juve’s title-winning seasons. A massive fixture in Italian football the lads from the Eternal City against the Evil Empire of Turin I’ve referred to this match for years as Italy’s El Classico.

Match Buildup & Team News
This matchup is a big as it is been in years as the race for the Scudetto is closer than its been in years 4th place Roma are only three points behind 3rd place Juventus with a game in hand. Last season these teams played twice in two exciting battles splitting the games as Juve won 1-0 at their place and Roma won 3-1 at theirs.
In this game, all eyes will be on Miralem Pjanić the Bosnian free kick specialist spent 5 seasons with Roma making 185 appearances for the Romans scoring 30 goals. Before he abruptly decided to turn his back on the supports to leave for Juventus. This move only intensifies the hatred between Roma and Juventus I expect him to receive abuse from the away support.
In this very important game, it will come down to who will perform better on the day Juventus currently are in pretty great form however they aren’t the Juventus of old. It must be noted that they have squandered several points this season and as it stands Napoli are the favourites for the title despite Juve beating Napoli they haven’t been the same team without Boncchi and Dani Alves.
With that being said Juventus are nearly unbeatable at home and have a lot of world-class talent to beat Roma even though it will be tough. Roma who have just lost to Torino in the cup equally have what it takes to pull off an upset in Juventus’s backyard. Roma have had issues finishing last few weeks hitting the bar several times throughout this period I feel like a game like this could get Roma in good form once again I reckon they will be more clinical than in past games.
Juventus are the favourites without a doubt with the likes of Pjanic, Higuain, Dybala, Douglas Costa as well as many others in the fire fueled team. However, their defence isn’t as strong in years past Roma have a chance here to break it down Roma cannot take any chances in this game Eusebio Di Francesco has proven this season that he is one of the best young managers in football I expect him to give Juve a tough time.
I would start Schick, Dzeko and El Shaarawy up front with Perotti as a key sub I think Roma need to start with that kind of firepower to be able to keep pace with Juve. Schick scored his first goal for Roma against Torino and looks very strong he has earned to start against the team that almost signed him. I think Roma midfield will be key in trying to carve them open with Radja Nainggolan, De Rossi and Kevin Strootman holding the midfield.
The defence Roma has will be Juve’s biggest issue in the game Allison has been Serie A’s best keeper this season and the Roma defence has been nearly unbeatable when they play there best for I see Florenzi and Kolarov as very important as they can push forward up the wings to open up scoring chances. Juventus is the better team and are amazing at home but Roma have the tools to put up a fight against the champions Roma have a chance.
