PL Giants Chasing Italian Prodigy

PL Giants chasing Italian prodigy

Every team needs a controlling attacker who has the ability to both score and help the team in the build-up of the play dominating in the opposition half of the field. Such is the talent of 20 year old Italian playmaker and fairly unknown Federico Chiesa who has been in splendid form for Seria A side Fiorentina this season. According to Italian news agency La Stampa, he has been in constant observation by some Premier League giants and European elites; most notably Liverpool, Juventus, Roma and Tottenham Hotspurs in the list of his admirers.

La Stampa reports that Fiorentina has slapped a £53 million price tag on the youngster and is refusing to lower it down. With such a hefty price for a 20 year old, Juventus and Roma are reported to be unhappy with the player’s valuation which leaves both Liverpool and Tottenham in the frame.

The Genoa born wide midfielder started his youth career at U.S. Settignanese in 2007 before Fiorentina handpicked him the same year and was widely acclaimed to lead the team in future, given his superb quality of ball play, making him one of the hottest prospects in Italy since his joining. He has played in 15 out of the possible 16 matches for his side this summer, having scored 4 goals and providing one assist in the process with a healthy passing accuracy of 81%.

He would be a valuable addition to the Liverpool side if he decides to move, helping Klopp make useful rotations in his team in the coming hectic season of cup football. Tottenham would also benefit from the move as Pochettino can use his raw pace for his attacking style of play. With a busy winter transfer season coming up, it will be interesting to see if the Italian prodigy does decide to move to England and compete against some of the world’s best players.
