SerieA: AS Roma vs Cagliari: Match Preview

Following Roma drawing Shakhtar Donetsk in the champions league’s Round of 16 on Monday and Roma recent draw to Cheivo due to some exceptional goalkeeping Roma are anxious to get back home to try to get back on winning terms. Roma will face off with Cagliari at home this weekend in what should be an exiting contest. Roma in two meeting against Cagliari last season Roma won one and draw one. The draw to them last season proved to be a crucial result in Roma not winning the league as they coughed up a 2-0 lead in that game to draw. Cagliari are in horrid form at the moment having failed to advance in the Coppa Itaila to a team in Serie C Pordenone a few weeks back. As well as only having been able to collect two points over their last three league games after a win streak that was ended by inter they have struggled to get back into form since losing. I don’t see them being able to break their poor run of form here away at Roma isn’t a great game to try to get out of their slump. While Roma has dropped points in two of their last three games where the Romans were denied a penalty mistake and a keeper that played the game of his life Roma’s attack hasn’t been light as they have done an exceptional job attacking Roma just need to finish their chances with the state of the league Roma know how important it is to win this game. Danielle De Rossi returns for Roma having served his two match ban for his red card against Geona. Last week we saw Patrik Schick start his first game for Roma as he did quite well in his first outing I would give him another start I think Roma need to test out playing Dzeko and Schick in the same attack and I’d probably go with Perotti in that front three to give EL Shaarawy some rest but I reckon he should come on as a sub. Cagliari do have a pair of strikers that can be dangerous at times in Marco Sau and Leonardo Pavoletti however I see the defense being able to deal with them regardless Alisson and his back four are certainly capable of keeping the shutout for Roma their main job will be executing their chances. I think Roma need to play aggressive in this game the quality is there with a very strong midfield attack and defense I feel they really need to go after to it. Cagliari has too much firepower to deal with but they need to make sure they put away their chances this time I feel that Radja Nainggolan will be a big part of it if Roma flows everything through him and Roma are able to catch Cagliari on the counter breaking through the defense with a effective quick passing with Florenzi and Kolarov pushing through from the back it will make things very easy for Roma to open up their attack on a struggling Cagliari team that just will have a lot of issues dealing with it in result they are likely to play defensive to try to slow them down but I think Roma will come out strong because they know they need to wins this game this is a must for Eusebio Di Francesco and Roma.
