Bengal Team achieves wonders in All-India Futsal tournament

Bengal has always been a well known name in the history of Indian football. This time, the team has achieved wonders in one of the most popular forms of this game- Futsal. Going into an All-India futsal tournament organised by the Futsal Authority of India (FAI), the team from West Bengal was one of the teams to watch out for. A mixture of young players mostly from Calcutta were the hope for 90.32 millions from the eastern state. 6 out of 12 players play for an amateur Calcuttan side namely United Kolkata Football Club (UKFC), and have a better coordination as a team than the other teams in the tournament, that made Bengal one of the best to watch out for.

The journey started against Chandigarh with a 2-0 win,the skipper Anurag Aich scoring a brace. An amazing performance from them proved why they were one of the main teams to watch out for.

Defeating Rajasthan 9-0 handed them a boost before facing Haryana. Subhojit Chanda scored 4 goals, with Anurag Aich, Surojit Samal scoring a brace each, and Romario Angel Topno scoring a single one. It was a heck of a match with Bengal dominating the proceedings and reflecting the same on the scoreline.

Next, they went on to hammer Haryana 5-0 with the skipper scoring a brace yet again and Samal, Arjun and Romario scoring one each.

Bengal did not have to look forward to any single goal scorer as the whole team were geared up for scoring freely, and next they faced the capital side Delhi in the Round of 16.

An amazing match ended goalless against Delhi with Bengal qualifying to the quarter final with a 3-2 win on penalties.

All the amazement came to a sudden halt with Bengal losing to Mizoram 3-2 on penalties in the quarter final after a goalless match.

What the Bengal futsal team achieved, will be remembered by every Indian! Scoring 16 goals in 3 matches are a dream for many, but just one of the many achievements of this team. The whole of Bengal salutes the young brave hearts who fought all the way to the quarters at Goa, and they will look forward to even better results next season.
