Barcelona set eyes on Coutinho alternative

Spanish giants FC Barcelona may come with a revised offer one last time for Liverpool sensation Phillipe Coutinho this coming transfer window but with Liverpool finally hitting the correct nodes, the Brazilian playmaker might just stall the offer for a moment. Recent reports by Express reveal that the Spanish side have finally found their alternative in Juventus’ Miralem Pjanic and are set to bid £45 mil for the star midfielder.

The 27 year old Bosnian international has been a regular starter for the Italian outfit for the past couple of seasons and has been performing well under the present Old Lady manager Massimiliano Allegri given his team finished the last season as domestic champions and also had a good run in the Champions League, appearing in the final against eventual leaders Real Madrid at Cardiff.

Barcelona haven’t yet found the right balance in their midfield following Xavi’s departure to Al Sadd and now play with Paulinho, Rakitic, Andre Gomes and ageing Iniesta in the middle, supported by Busquets. With Iniesta dropping his form every consecutive season given he is 33 now, the addition of Pjanic will surely lift the team play, proving better opportunities to the front three.

Pjanic has had thirteen appearances in Seria A this season and has scored twice while assisting an impressive five times already given he is subbed off in maximum matches. He has a very eye catching passing accuracy of 91% and has made an average of 90+ touches per match. He is a regular in the UEFA Champions League too, starting in 5 matches for the Black and Whites already.

With the upcoming transfer season promising quite a few stir at some big clubs across all leagues, it will be exciting to track where the clinical playmaker ends up after the season or maybe in the coming January transfer window.
