Madrid net 5 past Sevilla

Real Madrid look set to close in on table leaders Barcelona after narrowing the gap to just 5 points playing one extra game, after a star studded Los Blancos side defeated visiting Sevilla 5-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu this game week. Sevilla’s cruising league form took a dip yet again as they now sit on the 5th spot, 7 points ahead of 6th placed Villarreal and 2 points behind 4th placed Athletico Madrid. The game always had something special for the fans as both sides haven’t drawn a single game in their last 24 meetings in La Liga with 15 going in favour of the home side while Sevilla managed to win nine of them.

Nacho scored early in the 3rd minute after a Kroos corner caused unnecessary traffic inside the Sevilla box giving the Real Madrid centre back an open chance after the ball deflected off Muriel. Cristiano Ronaldo made it 2-0 in the 23rd minute receiving a ball made up by Asensio as he made a beautiful run in the opposition half before feeding a pin-point pass to the Portuguese superstar. Ronaldo had more in store for the home fans as he converted a penalty in the 31st minute after Sevilla winger Jesus Navas was guilty of a handball inside his own box. Kroos made it 4-0 within the next ten minutes after the German pulled off a fine finish receiving the cross from Vazquez. Real Madrid youth product Hakimi made it five for the home side as the right back made a composed finish after Benzema picked him perfectly inside the box who made no mistake in netting past Rico.
