Manchester City Battling Liverpool For Seri’s Signature

Manchester City and Liverpool are locked in a battle to secure the services of Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri

Seri first genuinely came into the scene last year after his string of impressive performances for French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice. It’s not hard to fathom it out why Barcelona made him a priority target during the summer transfer window. But, Barcelona’s £35.2million offer was rejected by OGC Nice president, much to the disappointment of the 26-year-old Ivorian midfielder.

Now, according to Daily Mail, Premier League giants Manchester City and Liverpool are set to lock horns to sign Seri. Officials from both the clubs have extensively scouted the Ivory Coast international over the past couple of months and they are hugely impressed. PSG are also said to be an admirer of Seri but the Ivorian prefers a move to England. Arsenal were also reportedly interested in Seri during summer but didn’t lodge any formal bid.

With Naby Keita due to join an already packed Liverpool midfield next summer, it’s a mystery why Jurgen Klopp will go for another midfielder. For City though, Toure is set to leave after this season and with Fernandinho’s age taken into consideration, Seri would be a perfect addition for long-term future.
