Real Madrid set their eyes on Manchester City hitman
With Gareth Bale picking up a fresh injury again a couple of weeks earlier, Real Madrid head coach Zidane has been forced to play with two upfront for quite some time now and has seen his team fail miserably given their heroics last season. Real Madrid are now currently at the 4th position in the La Liga standings and have so far lost to Real Betis and Girona in the Spanish league and Tottenham Hotspurs in the UEFA Champions League and would be desperately hoping to change the tide of luck having proved their worth winning back to back UEFA Champions League titles. According to The Guardian, they are set to bid for Manchester City’s new hero, Raheem Sterling to replace injury laden Bale and to switch back to their 4-3-3 formation according to Zizou’s plans.
Currently embracing the No. 7 at Man City, Sterling has shown his improvement under City’s new manager Joseph Guardiola and is the leading goal scorer for the Blues this season. City have been on a rampant form this season, having won 20 games in a row and are the only undefeated team in the entire Europe at this moment.
Sterling has 13 goals and 2 assists in 18 games by his name already this season and has rediscovered his form under the new role given to him by his manager. It is worth noticing that he has more goals than his City comrades Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero already. City are thought to be ready to hand him a fresh contract but the 22-year old England ace has put all his contract talks on hold until the 2018 World Cup and has insisted he won’t rush into anything. His current contract runs out in 2020 and City will be wanting to wrap up the talks as soon as possible too, especially after hearing interest from other clubs.
It now remains to be seen how Real Madrid approach the situation and where Raheem’s fate lies.
