Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud could lose his place in France’s squad for next year’s World Cup if he does not get more playing time at the Premier League club, according to the national team’s assistant manager Guy Stephan.

2. Optimistic Peter Crouch.
Stoke City striker Peter Crouch is hopeful his recent form will earn him a regular starting spot at the Premier League club, the 36-year-old has said. Crouch has been largely used as a substitute at Stoke under manager Mark Hughes, with nine of his 11 league appearances this campaign coming from the bench.

3. Coach crisis in Australia.
Australia will decide on a successor for Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou by mid-February, the country’s football association said on Tuesday, as former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson emerged as a surprise candidate. Football Federation Australia said on Tuesday it had formed a nine-person panel and engaged a consulting firm to assess candidates to take Australia to the World Cup in Russia and beyond.

4. FA Cup 2017/18.
Liverpool will welcome Merseyside rivals Everton in the FA Cup third round while holders Arsenal face a trip to second-tier Nottingham Forest following Monday’s draw.
