Jesse Lingard scored a double for Manchester United to beat Arsenal 3-1 and keep pace in the English Premier League title race on Saturday.
Also, a splendid performance by goalkeeper David de Gea left United in second place behind Manchester City before both teams meet next week.

2. First defeat for PSG.
Paris St Germain suffered their first defeat of the season in any competition with Strasbourg ending the runaway leaders’ aura of invincibility in Ligue 1 with a 2-1 victory at the Stade de la Meinau on Saturday.

3. The Griezmann show.
Antoine Griezmann scored an 88th-minute winner as Atletico Madrid defeated Real Sociedad 2-1 on Saturday to move closer to leader Barcelona in the Spanish league.

4. Blow for Barcelona.
Barcelona central defender Samuel Umtiti will be sidelined for about two months because of a right hamstring injury. The France international was hurt midway through the second half of a 2-2 draw against Celta Vigo in the Spanish league on Saturday.

5. Victory for Leicester.
Demarai Gray’s sixth-minute goal gave Leicester City a 1-0 win over Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.
Burnley keeper Nick Pope could only push out Riyad Mahrez’s low effort straight to Gray who made no mistake from close range.

6. Patchy time continues for Spurs.
Tottenham Hotspur’s patchy away form in the Premier League continued with a 1-1 draw at Watford but the North London club will be pleased with a point after playing much of the second half with 10 men on Saturday.

7. Draw for Palace.
Alan Pardew maintained his record of never losing his first Premier League game in charge of a club as his West Brom team were held to a 0-0 draw at home against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

8. Domination of The Reds.
Premier League top scorer Mohamed Salah had a rare quiet day but it didn’t stop Liverpool powering to a 5-1 win at Brighton on Saturday for its biggest victory this season. Roberto Firmino scored twice while Philippe Coutinho added another goal and set up three as Brighton failed to deal with Liverpool’s ability on the counterattack at the Amex Stadium.

9. ISL 2017/18.
NorthEast United pumped in two quick first half goals in the space of five minutes to beat Delhi Dynamos 2-0 and notch up their first win of the season in the Indian Super League football in New Delhi on Saturday.

10. Bayern end as the winner.
Winger Kingsley Coman scored once and earned a penalty to help champions Bayern Munich to a 3-1 victory over Hanover 96 on Saturday that opened up a six-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga.

11.Bundesliga 2017/18.
Freiburg and Hamburger SV drew 0-0 in the Bundesliga on Friday leaving both sides in or just above the relegation zone.

12. Draw for Malaga.
Malaga could not manage more than a 0-0 draw against Levante on Friday, and remained in the relegation zone of the Spanish league.

13. Memorable victory for Dijon.
With Wesley Said providing the late winner, Dijon stunned Ligue 1 mid-table rival Bordeaux in an entertaining 3-2 victory on Friday lit up by a long-distance wonder strike from Bordeaux’s 20-year-old Brazilian winger Malcom.

14. Iceland and Argentina.
Iceland coach Heimir Hallgrimsson is excited about a romantic world cup debut with Messi and Argentina. “We seem to be a married couple,” Hallgrimsson joked after being drawn to play the Croats for the third time in five years of World Cup play.

15. Goal for Higuain.
Gonzalo Higuain struck an early goal to give Juventus a 1-0 win against Serie A leaders Napoli and end his former club’s unbeaten start to the league season on Friday.

16. Injury problem for Moyes.
A trio of injuries and the absence of his first-choice goalkeeper have complicated life for new West Ham United boss David Moyes ahead of the daunting trip to Premier League leaders Manchester City on Sunday. Moyes will be without strikers Andy Carroll (knee injury) and Javier Hernandez (hamstring) and will take a late call on defender Winston Reid (hamstring).

17. I League 2017/18.
Minerva Punjab beat debutants NEROCA FC 2-1 in a thrilling I-League match in Ludhiana on Friday.
After Felix Chidi (18th minute) put Neroca FC in the lead but Chencho (24th) and Lago (45+2) scored to secure all three points for the hosts.

Liverpool will be without first-choice centre back Joel Matip when they visit Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday, their manager Jurgen Klopp said.

Jamshedpur FC played out their third goalless draw in a row, this time against defending champions ATK at home in the Indian Super League in Jamshedpur on Friday.

New West Bromwich Albion boss Alan Pardew is convinced the quality in their squad will help him move the struggling team up the table, although he says it will take time for the players to adapt to his style of play.
