Manchester City Made 2-Man Shortlist For Centre-Back
Manchester City are ready to be active in the transfer market yet again in January and a centre-back is at the top of their priority list.
With John Stones’ unlikely long-term injury, unsurity over Kompany’s long-term fitness and Mangala’s lack of suitability in Pep’s system, Manchester City might enter into the transfer market with a new centre-back heavily on their mind. City were linked with a host of centre-backs in summer too only to be backed out of any move due to their inability to sell Mangala.
According to John Percy of The Telegraph, Pep Guardiola will lodge fresh bids for West Brom captain Jonny Evans and Real Sociedad defender Inigo Martinez. Both of them are left-footed and were also summer targets for City. Percy further added, West Brom are confident that City’s top target is Evans considering his homegrown status and the Baggies are bracing themselves for a quick bid from the Manchester side for the Northern Ireland defender who is also a target for Arsenal.
West Brom might hold for a fee in the region of £30m for Evans whereas Inigo has the same release clause in his contract.
