EPL: Chelsea vs Newcastle United: Match preview

0 23

Chelsea host Newcastle united at Stamford Bridge on Saturday as Rafa Benitez returns to his former club.

The Blues extended their unbeaten run to five matches on Wednesday night with a narrow 1-0 win at home to Swansea.

Antonio Conte was sent off before summer signing Antonio Rudiger scored the winner.

Chelsea have now won four out of their last five, keeping four clean sheets in that time.

Chelsea’s recent home record is also good. A win on Saturday would make it five straight wins at the Bridge.

Newcastle put a stop to their losing streak on Tuesday night, although they didn’t make things easy for themselves.

A second half goal from Ciaran Clark and a late own goal from Jonny Evans saw the Magpies snatch a point after being 2-0 down at West Brom.

The point leaves Newcastle 12th in the table but puts an end to their four match-losing streak.

Benitez’s side have just one win in their last nine matches, a 1-0 victory over bottom side Crystal Palace.

Newcastle have only won one match away from home this season, beating Swansea City in September.
