Real Madrid Emerge Victorious In A Five Goal Thriller At The Bernabeu
The home side were looking to close the gap on table-topping Barcelona, whilst a win for Malaga would have moved them closer to a place outside the relegation zone.
A 0-0 draw to rivals Atletico Madrid last weekend had left Real Madrid trailing Barcelona by 10 points at the top of LaLiga. This had increased the pressure on Zinedine Zidane and his players which had resulted in every game from now on being a must win if they were to get back into thre title race. They however secured qualification to the knockout stages in the Champions League on Tuesday after defeating Apoel Nicosia 6-0 in Cyprus.
Malaga on the other hand had been won their second game in three matches last weekend after winning 3-2 against Deportivo La Coruna. The victory moved them up to 18th in the table, however they were still four points adrift from safety.
Today’s home side had won both matches against Malaga last season, with them winning 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu and 2-0 at La Rosaleda Stadium. The victory away from home secured Real Madrid’s first LaLiga title since 2012.
Real Madrid had made two changes from their last league encounter with Jesus Vallejo and Lucas Vazquez coming into the starting eleven. Marcelo was the captain the home side this afternoon.
Malaga has also made two changes by bringing Diego Gonzalez and Recio into the side.

The match took its course as the home side responded to Malaga’s equaliser by winning a corner which was taken by Toni Kroos. Casemiro timed his run to perfection and beat his marker by heading the ball in the bottom right-hand corner at the 21st minute to ensure the lead which stayed till the half-time break.
As a remarkable effort from Castro had levelled the score once again for Malaga.The midfielder picked the ball up 25-yards out and fired a low effort towards Kiko Casilla’s goal. The Real Madrid keeper made some contact with the ball but it was not enough as it flew into the bottom right-hand corner.
The galacticos were granted a great chance to take the lead in the 74th minute as Luka Modric was brought down in the box after a mistimed tackle from Luis Hernandez.
Cristiano Ronaldo stepped in but his penalty was saved well, but it didn’t matter as he made no mistake with the rebound and buried his finish into the roof of the net which helped securing a hard fought victory for the home side.Casmeiro was awarded the man of the match for his tireless effort in midfield and the important first hald goal.
