0 19

ATK play their first home match in the new campaign with Pune the visitors as Teddy Sheringham’s boys look to score the first goal in Hero Isl four.

The reigning champions began their campaign against Kerala Blasters at Kochi and start off with a point on board, neither of them finding shooting boots in the game. But the Kolkata club do manage to put up a somewhat glamorous without Debjit not been to put into stern test.

On the other hand, Pune did not paved the way for good luck to arrive as they succumbed to a 3-2 defeat in the hands of Delhi. Losing at home will drive Pune to jostle down the holding champions by their star signings yet to make a long lasting mark in the competition.

Here we look at those five players from two teams combined consisting sheer piece of brilliance in them

1. Eugenson Lyngdoh (ATK): It will take some games for the ex-Bengaluru performer to get his real feet on the competition. But he administered the midfield well in the opener against Blasters and showed little signs of encouragement. He will be hoping for more from him in front of home support.

2. Zequinha (ATK): Almost made the breakthrough by striking the upright from distance with a monstrous curler but became the best player on the pitch in the second half. He tried his best to construct a link with him and Robin Singh on the end of his directed passes in dying moments to snatch a late grasp winner.

3. Jonathan Lucca (Fc Pune city): Pune’s significant midfielder and a leader in his role, Lucca brings out a vast experience on the pitch and likes to distribute open passes for the forwards to pounce upon. His workload will help Pune maintain stability in this away venue.

4. Marcelino (Fc Pune City): Former Dynamos player Marcelino would not get a better ground to demonstrate his goal scoring behaviour than Saltlake Yuba Bharati stadium. The top scorer for last season will be ready to nutmeg defenders and ask Debjit ‘prevent if you can’

5. Emiliano Alfaro: Scored his first in his new club’s shirt, Alfaro is already dreaming of wonder strikes he could shower in this campaign. It will be a confidence boost for him if he presents the champions with a horror evening to forget.
