Mesut Ozil’s Transfer to Barcelona Might Not Happen
Mesut Ozil ready for a Barcelona move with a £20million deal but that might not happen because of a special clause in his contract.
Reports in Spain claim Arsene Wenger has personally green-lighted Ozil’s exit in January with six other teams chasing him.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Ozil’s agent Dr Erkut Sogut is already holding talks with the Catalan giants over a winter switch to the Nou Camp.
But there is a special clause in his contract which might prevent him from joining Barca.
Accorading to that clause Real have a buy-back option on Ozil if Arsenal accept a bid for the 28-year-old from another Spanish club.
Back in January 2016, it was revealed that Los Blancos have a clause to re-sign Ozil. The option gives the Champions League winners a 48-hour first option on their former player if indeed the Gunners agree on a deal with another club in La Liga.
However after that 2-0 win over Tottenham, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez want to stay at the club.
“I am convinced they love the club and love the team, but all the rest will be decided – when? I don’t really know,” said Wenger.
“I believe they love the club and want to stay, but there are other top clubs out there who offer good contracts as well.” said the 68-year old.
