Ranko popovic will be eyeing for the crown this season to help Pune something to cheer about if they are to submerge their poor finishing in the competition. Popovic took charge of the Maharashtra based club from Antonio Lopes Habas who supervised them in the last season ending in critics for team’s underwhelming sixth position finish and was separated from any further contention after his relationship turn sour with the club’s authority. Adding to that Pune City made a complete reversal of its squad in want of a descent response in this season. Their new arrivals are stunning by name and equally effective on the pitch.

The high rankers on that list are those who took Isl by storm in the previous season and were supreme contenders for the golden boot till the last.
The former Northeast United striker Alfaro will be tying his shoelaces once again to reach his admirable heights and to enjoy his second season in the country. From chilly mountainous regions to heat spawn Maharashtra everything seems inevitable for this former Lazio star.

If he is an exciting grab in the Isl draft then the purchase of Marcelino is absolutely phenomenal. The golden boot winner of the last season may take a second taste of the prize as he’s always known to score lots and lots of goals. Marcelino’s accuracy and constant shot taking capability is enough to keep the defense line busy. He will be facing his former club tomorrow with whom he won the hearts of the fans. Another player who will be facing his old guys is the starlet Kean Lewis. A terrific winger who switches his place often to produce errors in the back line with his speed which is blessed by. Lewis drive Delhi last season to the semis but his performance was forgotten after an injury hit season with Mohun Bagan in the I-league where he only managed two AFC cup appearance from the start. But seriously he is a sleeping lion to give terrors. They also brought talented keeper Vishal Keith from Shillong Lajong.
But even so stats shows that Pune also made some great signings in the last couple of season but that did not benefitted them to fight for top four contention. Pune are hoping for the same this time out.

On the other hand, Delhi were in the opposite mood in three seasons but the earlier one must be noted as the best from the bunch. Italian mystro Zambrotta helped them cruise through the group stage and reach the semi finals stage of the tournament, beaten by finalists Kerala Blasters on penalty shootout.
Now the task is upon coach Miguel Angues Portugal’s hand to present the capital club this much desired silverware. It will be a hard fold though but looking at their squad they cannot be stroked off from title contention. Defensive unit has been eye catching with the likes of Pritam Kotal and Eduardo the star name in the squad. Kotal had been consistent game by game for Mohun Bagan and ATK in his right back role. Obliviously, his signing from the draft was not a surprising one after all Delhi were hammered at the end due to their poor defensive show. His teammate at Mohun Bagan will accompany him in the center back role who brings a lot of experience with him. Goalkeeper Albino Gomes contains an iron mind with little failures. His optimism inside the post is an extra boost to Delhi’s back line. Whereas in the front line Romeo Fernandez and Kalou Uche is enough by name to discover all the terror they will give to the opposition throughout the campaign. Now its up to Portugal if he can deliver a statement to win the title which class manager like Roberto Carlos and Zambrotta failed to achieve
