Arsenal ‘shut some mouths’ according to Hector Bellerin
Hector Bellerin has claimed Arsenal “shut some mouth” with their north London derby victory over Tottenham.
The Gunners secured local bragging rights with a 2-0 victory over Tottenham in their latest outing, much to the delight of their Spanish full-back.
The result was all the more satisfying given Spurs had been hailed as overtaking the Gunners since finishing above them last season for the first time since 1995.
But it was the manner of Arsenal’s victory which Bellerin believes put the doubters in their place.
“There’s always a lot of talk but I think it was one of those games where we showed what we could do. We shut some mouth as well.
“There are people who talk a lot and now, after watching that game at home, they’ll be thinking that these guys have a chance.” Bellerin told the club’s official website on the importance of that result
Bellerin also singled out Mesut Ozil for praise after the German playmaker dictated play in midfield.
Ozil in particular had been slammed by pundits for not delivering in big games but set up the opening goal for Shkodran Mustafi and put in a good shift defensively as well.
“Mesut is someone who gets a lot of criticism, but the players who are around him are very happy to have him and play with him. He makes things easy for you,” Bellerin said.
“People sometimes talk about his body language, but he gives everything for this shirt. The players who play around him know that he makes everything so much easier.”
Arsenal are back in action on Thursday when they take on Koln in the Europa League, with their next Premier League outing taking them to Burnley.
