Barcelona set to land Tottenham Hotspur star
Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez was seen scouting Tottenham Hotspurs midfielder Christian Eriksen during their tie against the defending Champions League winners Real Madrid. Tottenham won the match 3-1 and Eriksen remained one of the best players on the pitch putting up a stellar performance against the mighty Los Blancos. Eriksen scored a wonderful goal in that match which may just be the best possible way to impress the Barcelona representative. The 25 year old Denmark international joined the London based club in 2013 from Ajax and has been a hit ever since and is now a crowd favourite at Spurs.
The charismatic playmaker has started all the 10 matches in the league this season and has scored 3 goals while assisting twice. Also a part of the Champions League squad, he played in 3 out of the total 4 matches; scoring and assisting once. With a healthy pass accuracy of 80%, Eriksen is a good enough fit for any team and with Barcelona sniffing around for a quality midfielder, he may just be the perfect match for the Catalonian side. Apart from sharp passing skills, he has matured a lot under the Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino and takes up a lot of defensive responsibilities too. He has a good tackle winning percentage of over 80% which just goes perfectly with his balanced play up front.
With the news of Harry Kane off to Madrid in the coming summer becoming more and more prominent in the days going by, the Spurs manager will be seriously looking forward to keep the players home and challenge for titles in the following seasons. Eriksen plays a vital role in the Spurs midfield and with him going off next summer, things may not be the same. It now remains to be seen how Barcelona approach the situation going along with Coutinho’s hope to come to Camp Nou.
