Sevilla continued to float safe in Group E as they defeated a gritty Spartak Moscow line-up at home in a tie which was very crucial for the home side to win to remain in contention for more Champions league journey. Having slipped in the La Liga league standings after a dreadful 4-0 loss away to Valencia, Sevilla found their momentum back after back to back victories against FC Cartagena and Leganes. Spartak Moscow are lagging behind in their league too, after dropping crucial points and hence sit on the 6th spot.
Sevilla struck first in the 30th minute after an Ever Banega corner found Lenglet who easily headed the ball into the goal. Man of the match Banega double the host’s lead in the 59th minute after the Argentine beautifully curled a left footed shot into the left hand corner of the goal. Spartak did manage to break some Sevilla hearts after they scored a late consolation goal via Ze Luis, who scored in the 78th minute.
Sevilla next face Barcelona at Camp Nou for La Liga game-week 11 while Spartak welcome FC Ufa this weekend.
