Transfer rumours are one of the most exciting parts of football season. Rumours need not be 100% true everytime but they can be pretty much effective sometime to keep track of your favourite club’s future endeavours. LNTUP presents to you today’s top transfer rumours from well known sources across the globe.
1. “Barcelona have offered Rafinha to Juventus”
Barcelona midfielder Rafinha has been offered to Juventus after his string of injuries have frustrated Ernesto Valverde. The 24-year-old Brazilian is a fringe member of Barcelona squad. He has 2 years remaining on his current Nou Camp deal but wants to play regularly before the World Cup in Russia next year. Now, Sport claims, the Catalan giants have offered Rafinha to Juventus. It will be interesting to see if the Old Lady opt for a move for the Brazilian.
2. “Arsenal face Liverpool and Barcelona competition for Lemar”
According to Mirror, Monaco forward Thomas Lemar is a target for Arsenal, Liverpool and Barcelona. Both Arsenal and Liverpool were strongly linked with Lemar in the summer with Arsenal lodged an official £90m bid on the transfer deadline day to replace Alexis Sanchez. The deal fell through at the last minute and Arsenal blocked Sanchez’s move to City. Rumours were there Lemar wanted a move to Liverpool and the Reds are now seriously considering making a move for the France international. Barcelona’s new signing Ousmane Dembele has suffered a long-term injury which might force them to go for Lemar. Lemar is expected to leave Monaco after the World Cup in Russia, if not in the upcoming January.
3. “Inter eyeing Vermaelen move”
Tuttomercatoweb reports that former Arsenal and Belgium international defender Thomas Vermaelen is closing on a move to Inter Milan on loan in January. Vermaelen is out-of-favour at Barcelona and dropped further down the pecking order under new boss Ernesto Valverde. Vermaelen wants to play regularly to solidify a spot in Belgium’s World Cup squad. That leads to speculation of him linking with Everton, West Ham, Anderlecht and Inter Milan. But, reports claim Inter Milan are well favourites to land the Belgian on a loan deal.
4. “Luke Shaw keen to link up with Pochettino”
Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw wants to leave Manchester United in January to link up with his former boss Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham. Shaw had been sidelined for a long time with injury but has so far failed to cement a first team place after his return. He thinks Jose Mourinho isn’t giving him enough chances inspite of his hard work in training. The Gambling Times insists a short January loan move may be on the cards if United can sign a new left-back. Pochettino himself is said to be excited for a reunioun with the Englishman.
5. “Demarai Gray to ink new Leicester deal”
Leicester City and England U-21 winger Demarai Gray is ready to extend his stay at the club. The 21-year-old was close to sign a new deal according to then Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare six weeks ago. But uncertainty over Leicester’s managerial situation forced Gray to be patient over a new deal. In the meantime, Tottenham showed interested on the Englishman but now, as the managerial situation is resolved, Gray is set to sign a new deal. After Leicester’s 2-0 victory over Everton, Gray confirmed the news. Spurs were targeting him in summer too but they weren’t ready to match Leicester’s £30m valuation of the winger. Leicester rejected bids from Bournemouth and Crystal Palace too in the summer.
6. “Liverpool want Keylor Navas”
Diario Gol claims that Liverpool are plotting a move for Real Madrid goalie Keylor Navas. Liverpool has faced problems in the back this season and Mignolet looked shaky so far. Klopp thinks Navas is the perfect man to replace Mignolet in the starting XI and he even personally called the Costa Rica international. Navas is furious with Florentino Perez’s treatment. Real Madrid’s constant links with David de Gea have worsened the situation further and Navas believes a move to the Merseyside would be the best option for him.
7. “Ghoulam nears contract extension”
Napoli are close to agree a contract extension of left-back Faouzi Ghoulam. Ghoulam was heavily linked with Manchester City and Liverpool as his current contract is set to expire at the end of this season. Negotiations with Napoli believed to have stalled. But, now according to Tuttomercatoweb, both the parties have found a break in the discussion and Ghoulam is happy to extend his stay at the Stadio San Paolo. Napoli are rumoured to be considering to insert a €35m release clause in the Algeria international’s contract which will run until 2022.
8. “Tottenham, Manchester United and Arsenal in three-way battle for Celtic star”
ESPN suggests that Tottenham have moved ahead of Manchester United and Arsenal in their pursuit of Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney. The 20-year-old Scottish produced another fine display yesterday night against Bayern Munich. Reports claim Tottenham sent scouts to closely monitor the youngster. Since making his debut in 2014/15 season, Tierney has been on the rise. His performances earned him a new six year contract which he just signed on Monday. Inspite of that the Premier League trio are confident of luring away the eight time capped Scottish international next summer.
