Manchester City and Napoli are set to lock horns at the Stadio San Paolo. Manchester City need just 1 point to ensure their qualification in the round of 16 whereas Napoli need to win this one to put pressure on Shaktar Donetsk.

Pressure is high on Pep Guardiola to lead his side to Champions League glory this time after enduring a frustrating round-of-16 exit last season against Monaco. City have started this season brightly sitting at the top of the Premier League table with 9 wins and 1 draw in 10 matches. They are scoring for fun. In Champions League, they beat Feyenoord 4-0 and Shaktar 2-0 to maintain a solid start. They beat Napoli at the Etihad in a mouth-watering contest by 2-1.

This is Manchester City’s 6th straight Champions League presence with semi-final appearance in 2015-16 Champions League being their best performance till date.

Napoli, on the other hand, will step up in Champions League gameweek 4 bossing at the top of the Serie A table with 10 wins out of possible 11 and scoring loads of goals. Napoli manager Sarri follows almost same kind of footballing philosophy as Guardiola – attacking, high pressing and possessional based play. Under Sarri, they are a treat to watch. Their Champions League campaign though hit a stumbling block when they lost their away match against Shaktar Donetsk but fought back brilliantly to beat Feyenoord in next gameweek. They gave a good fight to City when they met at Etihad coming back strongly from 2 goal down but ultimately lost 2-1.

Manchester City and Napoli previously met 3 times with both of them won one match each and the other match ended in a stalemate. Pep Guardiola’s men beat Napoli 2-1 at the Etihad in gameweek 3.

Both Napoli and Manchester City have fearsome attacking frontline but Manchester City have slightly better quality in their ranks to pull off an win. Pep Guardiola’s men will be confident of beating Napoli after their triumph in the previous gameweek. I will go with a hard fought 2-1 victory in favour of Manchester City.
