Sevilla continue winning ways
Sevilla secured vital three home points as they climbed to the 5th spot in the La Liga standings after game week 10 following a scrappy 2-1 win over high-flying Leganes who finally lost a match after six competitive matches but still maintain the 7th position.
Wissam Ben Yedder opened the score sheet after 20 minutes after receiving a juicy through ball from Pablo Sarabia inside the box to strike home a powerful left footed effort to the high centre of the net. Leganes equalised early in the second half after Alexander Szymanowski converted the penalty following a Sebastian Corchia foul inside the Sevilla box.
Leganes though, couldn’t keep the momentum for long as Sarabia scored the winning goal for the home side after striking a thunderous right footer from outside the box to easily beat Ivan Cuellar guarding the away side goal-post.
Much the game’s possession was held by Sevilla (60.9%) as they completely looked to control the game for the majority of period. Sevilla had dropped crucial points in their last two La Liga fixtures, losing to Bilbao (1-0) and Valencia (4-0) and will hope to continue their winning form now to atleast finish in the top 4 eventually.
Sevilla next welcome Spartak Moskva for their Champions League tie this week while Leganes visit Valencia next week for their La Liga encounter.
