Manchester United considering January swoop for Real Madrid midfielder
Jose Mourinho wants to add Casemiro to add depth to his midfield.
Jose Mourinho wants to lure away Brazilian midfielder Casemiro to the Old Trafford according to reports from Spain. Defensive midfield area is one of the most important aspects of Mourinho’s gameplan and he has focused heavily on recruiting players capable of fulfilling his demands in that area. After the world record signing of central midfielder Paul Pogba, United again signed Nemanja Matic from Chelsea this season. Apart from this they have kept hold of Belgian Marouane Fellaini.
But clueless midfield performances during Pogba’s long-term injury and Fellaini’s unsure future have forced Mourinho to delve into the market for a new defensive midfielder and Casemiro aptly fits the bill. The 25-year-old Brazilian has been an instrumental figure in Madrid’s back to back Champions League victory providing the much needed cover to the backline.
Diario Gol claims Casemiro is in talks with the Los Blancos to extend his current contract which expires at 2021. But, Don Balon suggests Manchester United might be a serious option for him as the Red Devils are ready to hand Casemiro a bumper offer that would see him earning the same amount as the club’s highest paid player Paul Pogba.
Paris Saint-Germain, another interested party, seems to be the most likely destination for Casemiro if he decides to leave Bernabeu owing to the presence of Thiago Silva, Dani Alves, Lucas, Marquinhos and Neymar. But, Zidane is a big admirer of the Brazilian and it will be very difficult to convince him to sell Casemiro.
