Saven Bilic Sounded Really Happy After Making A Stunning Comeback Against Spurs
West Ham boss Slaven Bilic had the post-match press conference in fits of laughter following his side’s stunning comeback at Tottenham.
The Croatian was guilty of mistranslation as he suggested some of his players might have ‘long noses’ at the fact that they didn’t play.
When questioned what he meant by this phrase, Bilic said: “I think it’s an expression when somebody’s not happy when he doesn’t play.
“Isn’t it? Or not?”
Another journalist pointed out that he was looking for the phrase ‘long face’.
Bilic realised his mistake and jokingly blamed the West Ham press officer beside him for not helping him out.
He said: “Oh long face. Why didn’t you tell me I said it wrong.
“I was so proud of what I was saying. Long faces, sorry.
“In Croatia we say it like long noses, probably because we have big noses, I don’t know.”
The under-pressure gaffer was clearly in a jovial mood, having masterminded a second half fightback at Wembley in the Carabao Cup.
Goals from Moussa Sissoko and Dele Alli gave the home side a two-goal lead at half-time, but the Hammers turned it around through an Andre Ayew brace and an Angelo Ogbonna header.
The win earns West Ham a place in today’s quarter-final draw.
Both sides return to Premier League action this weekend, as Tottenham travel to Manchester United, while West Ham face struggling Crystal Palace.
