Early Life :
Wayne Rooney was born as the eldest son of Thomas Wayne Rooney and his wife Jeanette Marie in Liverpool. He is of Irish descent. He has two younger brothers.
He attended Our Lady and St Swithin’s primary school and later went to De La Salle Humanities College. Ever since his childhood, he was a supporter of his local club Everton with whom he signed a contract in 2002.

Club Career :
Rooney made his professional debut with Everton in August 2002. Two months later, he showed his penchant for scoring and coming up big in important games when he became the youngest-ever goal scorer in Premier League history. The goal put Rooney in the record books, and the last-minute score steered the team to a victory over Arsenal, which had come into the contest sporting a 30-game unbeaten streak. In 2002 Rooney captured the BBC Sports Young Personality of the Year award. He scored 15 times in 67 matches there.
Despite his earlier affinity for his local pro club, in 2004 Rooney signed on with Manchester United after his new team paid Everton a transfer fee of roughly $48 million. The move was seen as treason by Everton fans, and when he later returned to play against his old club, he was roundly booed by his former supporters.
Rooney, however, expressed no regrets about the change, and neither did United. In the 2006 Football League Cup, the quick-tempered playmaker, whom the team would make captain that year, scored twice to lead his club to a 4-0 win over Wigan Athletic in the final. Over the next five seasons, Rooney steered United to four Premier League titles. He also helped his club win the 2008 UEFA Champions League and scored the winning goal in the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup.
In 2008, Rooney became the youngest player ever to play in 200 Premier League games. The following season he became just the 20th player in team history to score more than 100 goals for the franchise. Named 2010 PFA Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year, Rooney needed only to help England achieve significant World Cup success to cement his status as an international icon. He was the top scorer with 183 goals in the history of red devils. In 2004, after the departure of vidic, he was assigned the captain also.
After much speculation over the previous few months, it was confirmed on 9 July 2017 that Rooney would return to his boyhood club, Everton, on a two-year contract, after Manchester United allowed him to leave on a free transfer. Rooney was assigned the number 10 shirt for the 2017–18 campaign.] He made his first official appearance on his return to the club in a 1–0 win over MFK Ružomberok in the UEFA Europa League.

International Career :

Rooney was eligible to represent the Republic of Ireland. through an Irish grandmother. In 2015, he confirmed that he had rejected an approach from Ireland at the age of 16, describing himself as “English through and through”.
Rooney became the youngest player to play for England when he earned his first cap in a friendly defeat against Australia at the Boleyn Ground on 12 February 2003 at 17 years. He represented his team in U-15, U-17, U-19 and the senior team scoring 136 times yet.
He has played major tournaments like world cup : 2006, 2010 and 2014. Euro : 2012 and 2016 yet.

Playing Style :

Rooney is a creative, energetic forward who combines technical skill with strength and physicality, while also excelling in the air despite his lack of height. He is a versatile attacker, capable of playing anywhere along the front line.
Due to his precocious displays as a teenager, Wayne Rooney was given the nicknames “Wazza” (a reference to former England international Paul “Gazza” Gascoigne, who was also a gifted player troubled by off-field issues), “The Wonder Boy”, and “The White Pelé”.
