Roman Weidenfeller to end connection with Borussia Dortmund
Out of choice goalkeeper Weidenfeller is ready to leave the club next summer as reported by the sporting director Michael Zorc.
The 32 year old German guarded the post for the black and yellow since 2002 but recently found his position snatched away by another Roman’s arrival in 2015. The Swiss goalie Roman Burki since had taken up responsibility quite well in his position and forced his club mate to move down the pecking order.
That has caused this great old German keeper to restrict his game time in the leagues against stellar clubs. Instead he is put into the custody to play midweek cup fixtures which in the books are of less serious concerns. Even the heroics the keeper installed in his game for his team at the prime time of his career or at the later stages at the cup games, he still doesn’t stand a chance to restore his first choice consideration.
Zorc made it clear that Weidenfeller is no longer going to carry on with his loved club and will seek a move at the end of the season. He told sky sports,” It is certain that Roman is in his last year so we can say that we are looking for a new number two.”
He is yet to make an appearance this season.
