Director of FC Barcelona justify the low release clause of the players
Oscar Grau,General director of FC Barcelona, justified to the Members Assembly on Saturday, the reason behind players of the club do not have clauses as high as those at Real Madrid.
A low clause was the reason that Paris Saint-Germain were able to trigger the buy-out clause of Neymar for 222 million euros, however some players at Real have a buyout that reaches up to 1 billion euros.
“The amount that is fixed for the termination clause of a player is based on the salary they have,” Grau noted.
“A clause of 1 billion euros would not be defensible in court for this reason.”
Despite this, Barcelona has considerably increased the value of the buyout clauses of new players such as Ousmane Dembele, which stands at 400m euros.
As prices of players keeps increase in the current market, it is still uncertain whether 400 million is still enough.
