Barcelona vs Olympiacos:Match report
Spanish giants Barcelona met Greek side Olympiacos for the first time in any competition. The la liga leaders started their campaign with
a great flow.Unbeaten in all competitions. In sharp contrast the side from Greek had a difficult start to the season.both domestic and european.
Before the match with all the analysis no body expected a tough challenge from Olmpiacos.Barcelona started the match with great tempo and intensity as expected. In the early miniutes of the game Barcelona took the control of midfield and dominated the match.
Olypiacos tried to bite with their pace upfront with some quick counters but the lack of quality denied their efforts. It is in the 17th miniute Barca got the first oppurtunity as Paulinho’s shot was just off target.
But they didn’t had to wait too long for their goal as Gerard Deulofeu’s attempted low cross was put into the own net by Dimitris Nikolaou. Then the former Everton and AC Milan man Gerard Deulofeu showed his tricks to get past the defenders only to be denied by the keeper.
Barca got their seccond oppurtunity when Andres Iniesta’s lob pass found Paulinho whose header hit the post. The Brazilian started his season with 2 goals in la liga. But luck was not in his side this time around.
In the 32nd Miniute Leo Messi’s accurate through pass found Suarez but the striker failed to score. In the late stages of the match Barca started to put more pressure to take the game away from Olympiacos as Messi was in full flow again but his shot was saved by the Olypiacos defender
denying his 100th European goals.
But Olympiacos were given a route back into the contest when Pique, already booked, turned in a saved shot from Gerard Deulofeu with his hand and referee Willie Collum was in no doubt the Spain centre-back had to go.
The first half ended as Barca was leading 1-0,but the shocking red card of Pique opened the path for a Olympiacos comeback. But the Argentine magician had other plans in his stock as he joined his great rival Cristiano Ronaldo as the second member of an exclusive club by winning and converting a free-kick after the hour.

Barcelona even without a man down started to dominate the midfield.Olypiacos struggled to kkep up with the pace of Barca’s attack. In 64th miniute Lucas Digne made sure of Barca preserving their 100 per cent record in this season’s competition by scoring from the pass given by Lionel Messi.
The match was well beyond the grip of Olympiacos who tried their best to keep thier shape but Barca’s attacking threat was too much for them.Sergio Busquets was outstanding in the midfield as he had 98% passing accuracy.
Nikolaou concluding an eventful 90 minutes by powering in a header at the same end where he erred earlier was scant consolation to Olympiacos, who are pointless after three matches.
Barcelona were playing at home for the first time since facing Las Palmas behind closed doors in LaLiga on the day of the Catalan independence referendum earlier this month and some supporters waved “Si” banners in support of the separatist movement.
Among the performers Deulofeu performed brightly in the opening exchanges and he crafted the breakthrough goal when the unfortunate Nikolaou diverted the ex-Everton forward’s low cross into his own net.
Paulinho was making his first Champions League start for the club.He had his oppurtunites too but failed to score on this occasion.Digne capitalized his opportunity as Jordi Alba was injured.
After the win Barcelona maintained their 100% wining start to the ucl campaign. With qualification is almost secured from the group stage and leading the lines in la liga Barcelona is now aiming for their lost crown.
On target: 10-1
