The uefa champions league returned with a mouth wateringclash between two European gaints. It was probably the most tough game of tottenham’s season till now because they were facing the defending champions in the Bernabeu. But shutting every critics up spurs gave real madrid a match of their level.
Serge aurrier’s brilliant cross was turned in his own net by Raphael Varane but later the former tackled tonikroos in the box which leads to a penalty which Ronaldo took and scored.
Both Lloris and Navas were busy throughout the game to keep their teams in the game.

Here are 5 talking points from the Spanish capital-

Cristiano Ronaldo vs Harry Kane: This fixture was added an extra gloss because of these two fantastic players. The stage was set for both of them to show their real class, and prove to the world why they are world’s best.
Cristiano Ronaldo headed against the post brilliantly in the opening minutes of the game, other than he had chances to score but didn’t manage it. But as always the main man did his job from the penalty spot.
Kane also had his chances but never really took one. In the second half he had the chance of the game but couldn’t score past Navas.

Hugo Lloris is one of Europe’s best:Lloris was fantastic’ making two world class saves. The one from Benzema was from point blank range but Lloris saved it quite brilliantly.
Sometimes lloris get overlooked from the list of the best goalkeepers, but in the bernabeu he showed his real worth.

Big Benz still couldn’t find his champions league goal: The Frenchman didn’t put his striking boots on as he couldn’t find the back of the net from very decent chances. But his build up play with kroos and modric which leads to the penalty and then goal once again proved that he is still one the best in his job.

The night of debutants: As madrid’s regular right back Dani Carvajal is suffering from a heart disease Zidane put his trust on Achraf Hakimi. The Moroccan had a okay game but he will be thrilled to get a start like this for sure.
Not only Zidane but also Mauricio Pocchetino put his trust on Harry winks in the middle of the park. But surprisingly this kid shows a real mature performance in front of the likes of Kroos,Modric and Casemiro.

The Bernabeu remains the ultimate test: English clubs have struggled against the Spanish giants in this beautiful stadium.
Incredibly, Arsenal in 2006 and Liverpool in 2009 have emerged with a win.
The last time Spurs were battered 4-0 in this stadium.
But this time Spurs put real pressure in the Spanish giants and showed everyone that they are not anymore the underdogs.
