Uruguayan hitman makes Manchester City move his number one priority
Paris Saint-Germain and Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani has earmarked Manchester City as his preferred destination.
Cavani joined the Parisian club in 2013 from Napoli for €64m snubbing Manchester City interest. He has had a illustrious career at PSG so far winning 3 Ligue 1 titles among the possible 4. He and Zlatan made a fearsome attacking duo. Since Zlatan’s departure, Cavani has been the main man for the French club. With genuine pace and lethal eye for goal, Cavani is still going very strong at the age of 30.
But, since Neymar’s arrival at Parc des Princes, situation has taken an awkward turn with Cavani and Neymar’s on field spat over set piece taking led to much speculation in media. Both of them pulicly expressed there are no problems between them but reports are emerging that Neymar wants PSG to sell Cavani in January.
Cavani’s possible departure has alerted top European clubs with Real Madrid, Manchester United and Everton have been listed as potential suitors.
United already have Zlatan and Lukaku to lead the frontline. Real Madrid often play with one striker and with Ronaldo now taking that role with Benzema as backup, it’ll be hard for Cavani to find maximum gametime there. Everton don’t have that much power and glamour to pull off such a big deal.
Spanish publication Don Balon claims that Cavani wants to join Manchester City as he believes Pep Guardiola’s attacking tactics will help him notching up many goals. But considering City already have Aguero and Jesus at their disposal, it’s highly unlikely that Guardiola will make any attempt to bring Cavani to the Etihad.
