Hamburg forward Tatsuya Ito set to extend his stay amidst Manchester City interest
Hamburg forward Tatsuya Ito is in talks for a contract extension at the German club, confirms his agent.
In an interview with Hamburger Morgenpost, Ito’s agent Jun Yamazaki told, “It was first preliminary talks and it went very well.”
Ito joined the German club in 2015 inspite of strong interest from Manchester City. City are still reported to be interested in him as Pep Guardiola values the Japanese forward highly. Manchester City are analysing the whole situation currently and hoping that the contract talks between Ito and Hamburg breaks down so that they can snap him up for free next summer.
If Ito becomes available for free in summer, Manchester City might face stiff competition from Inter Milan as the Italian giants are long time admirers of the 20-year-old forward.
Manchester City could come up with a January offer too for Ito in case Hamburg decide to sell him. But German outlet Sport Bild suggests Hamburg will halt any such advances and ready to offer Ito an improved deal which they believe would be enough to please him.
