Turkish Star desperate to return home
BARCELONA midfielder Arda Turan is desperate to return to Galatasaray, says his former team-mate.
Barcelona were willing to offload Turan in the summer but couldn’t come to an agreement with Galatasaray.
The midfielder is said to be keen to quit the Nou Camp after being ostracised from the first team.
Gala seem like the most likely option for the 30-year-old, who could move in January.
And his former team-mate Ergun Penbe, who is now manager of Turkish second-tier side Kayseri Erciyesspor, reckons Turan is as good as a Gala player already.
“Let’s see who will get Arda,” Penbe told Turkish newspaper Fanatik.
“Of course Arda likes Galatasaray very much and I know he wants to go back to Galatasaray.
“Arda is one of the stars that Galatasaray want, he has high value, he’s one of the players who can give his life for Galatasaray, and I believe that he will serve them best if he comes.
“He believes that he will improve his game. But I do not want to affect the performance of the player if the situation arises.”
The Turkey international, who picked up his 100th cap during the international break, switched to Barca in 2015.
But he has never been able to cement his place in the first team and a move now seems inevitable.
Asked again if Turan will return to Istanbul, Penbe told Fanatik: “He might do, after all what is not happening in Turkish football?”
