Real Madrid impressed with Sociedad defender
Real Sociedad right back Alvaro Odriozola is set to be the subject of a summer bid from Real Madrid. The 21-year old is highly rated in Spain and rumours are linking him with a move to Real Madrid.
Odriozola, who joined the Basque club at the age of 10, is a product of Real Sociedad’s academy. The 21-year-old right-back has made 9 appearances for Sociedad this season including 2 appearances in Europa League. He has recently been called up to the Spanish national team thanks to his impressive form and made his debut in Spain’s 3-0 win over Albania.
Now Spanish publication AS claims that Real Madrid are genuinely impressed with Odriozola’s quality and ready to make a summer swoop for the Spanish international by lodging a £35.7m bid.
With Dani Carvajal out of action indefinitely with a pericarditis and Madrid already sold Danilo to Manchester City, they are left with no recognised right back in their star-studded squad which forced Zidane to deploy centre-back Nacho at right back position. That makes Madrid vulnerable at the back as if Ramos or Varane gets injured, there is no reliable centre-back in their hands as a replacement. Madrid believe Odriozola will be the best fit to take Dani Carvajal’s place.
Inspite of such reports, Odriozola is focused on his new contract with Sociedad and doesn’t fancy talking about rumours.
In a recent press conference, Odriozola said :
“I just signed a new contract through 2022 and that’s all I’m thinking about right now.”
