1.Dheeraj Moirangthem (India):
Among some individual brilliance from Indian players, goalkeeper Dheeraj Moirangthem’s performance under the bars was hailed by many, including the US coach John Hackworth.
“The goalkeeper (Dheeraj Singh) made several saves in the opening 20 minutes. He was exceptional on the night. If he wouldn’t have made those saves, the game would have opened up. One save was off Josh Sargent and he doesn’t miss many. In the second half, we made some tactical adjustment which allowed us more space to play. Durkin finished from a corner-kick and I must say that he doesn’t usually finish as well as he did today,” said coach Hackworth.
Scouts, as usual, are here in India, watching the World Cup matches closely, in a bid to find talents in the tournament. As per reports, Dheeraj is one of the few Indian players who managed to impress the scouts.
2.Anwar Ali (India) :
The rocket off defender Ali’s foot slammed into horizontal pole. The dad and his two kids had their hands in the air in unison. The boy shouted “goal”, only to be explained by the father what happened and how close Ali came to being part of history.
The defender from Jalandhar in Punjab idolises Spain’s Sergio Ramos and had his name on most lips analysing the match descending the staircase from various stands.But the ricochet from Ali’s shot hitting the post led to US counter, at the end of which Andrew Carleton made it 3-0 to put things beyond India’s reach.
3.Eric Ayiah (Ghana):
Aiyah is the man to look out for from the Ghana camp. The striker peculiarly wears the no. 6 jas a tribute to Ghana’s Independence Day (6 March) which coincidentally is also his birthday. Ayiah who is also the captain of the Ghana side who scored four goals in the first two games of the 2017 AFCON U-17.
4. Ibrahim Sulley (Ghana) :
The youngster having impressed at the Africa Junior Championship was invited for trials at Bayern Munich.
The New Life FC player was one of the revelations at the Africa Junior Championship after he scored a brace in Ghana’s opener against Cameroon.
Sulley’s return will beef Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin’s squad ahead of the World Cup in India.
5. Emmanuel Toku (Ghana) :
The Cheetah FC playmaker is a fine player, with great skills – for his age. However, a move to one of Europe’s big clubs might prove a step too early.
The talismanic Emmanuel Toku rose to the occasion and gave all Ghanaians a timely reminder of the nation’s talent pool.
And it is no surprise that clubs have started hovering around the heads of the aforementioned players. Emmanuel Toku, in particular, has been in the spotlight ever since it was reported that some elite European clubs had registered interest in him.
