What are Özil’s plans regarding his future?
Mesut Özil is out of contract at the end of the season, and is free to discuss terms and move on a free to a foreign club (at the end of the season) in the January 2018 transfer window.
Previous rumours about him seeking a move to Real Madrid, Bayern München or even FC Barcelona have been probably quashed by his agent’s claims.
Arsenal have been performing pretty well without Özil, while he recovers from a minor knee injury, but Arsenal manager Arséne Wenger has voiced his opinion about him being keen on keeping him at Arsenal, come the end of the season.
A number of clubs are said to be monitoring Ozil’s situation, including Manchester United and Serie A giants Inter, but Ozil’s representative Dr Erkut Sogut insists talks over a new Arsenal deal are progressing well. ‘Ozil wants to play another 2-3 years in the Premier League,’ Sogut told Turkish outlet Fanatik. ‘Talks with Arsenal are ongoing regarding a new deal, what I can say right now is that negotiations are going well.’
