1. UAE official urges Qatar to give up 2022 FIFA WC to end crisis.
A top Emirati security official says the Qatar diplomatic crisis can be resolved if Doha gives up hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The comments on Twitter by Dhahi Khalfan, the often-outspoken head of security in Dubai, mark the first time any official from the four Arab countries boycotting Qatar has directly linked the tournament to ending the months long dispute.
Khalfan wrote: “If the World Cup goes out of Qatar, the crisis in Qatar will end.” Qatari officials did not respond to a request for comment on Monday

2. It took 27 years.
A seven-time African champion and the continent’s most successful team, Egypt last qualified for the World Cup in 1990 in Italy.
Mohamed Salah scored from a penalty kick deep into injury time to send Egypt to the World Cup for the first time in 27 years after beating Republic of Congo 2-1 at home on Sunday.
Salah scored both Egypt’s goals, with the second from the spot in the fourth minute of second-half injury time for a dramatic finish in front of a capacity crowd of 30,000 at a military stadium in the Mediterranean port city of Alexandria.

Ligue 1 sides could soon be competing with the Premier League for transfer targets as the French top-flight’s broadcasting rights could fetch up to €1.2 billion. The arrival of Neymar as Paris Saint-Germain has sparked huge interest in the league, with one expert claiming “the stars are aligned” for Ligue 1 to have its moment in the spotlight.

Mark Anthony Viduka ( born 9 October 1975), also known as Marko Viduka, is an Australian retired footballer who played as a centre forward. He captained the Australia national team at the 2006 FIFA World Cup to the last 16 and holds the record of most goals scored by an Australian in the UEFA Champions League, with four.
He started his professional career in Melbourne Knights and scored 202 goals in his whole career of 404 appearances which include clubs like Celtic , Leeds , Middlesbrough and Newcastle Utd.

5. . Five names have been revealed with the full list of 30 men will be unveiled through the day of Oct 9.
Neymar, Paulo Dybala and N’Golo Kante are among the first five names announced as nominees for the 2017 Ballon d’Or award.
Real Madrid full-back Marcelo and team-mate Luka Modric also feature, with France Football releasing the full 30-man list in batches over the course of October 9.
Neymar has been recognised following an eventful year that has seen the Brazil star impress for both his national team and Barcelona, before his world-record summer transfer to PSG. The next announcement is due at 12:00 (CET), with further confirmation of nominees coming at 14:00, 17:50, 18:35 and, finally, 19:15.
Both Cristiano Ronaldo, who is the current holder of the award and aiming to claim his fifth title, and Lionel Messi are expected to be nominated later in the day, while the likes of Antoine Griezmann and Gianluigi Buffon are also likely to be included.
