USA had outclassed the host nation India by a margin of 3-0 in the first match of the Group A. On the other hand Ghana had beaten beaten Colombia 1-0 in a thrilling contest. 1. Josh Sargent (USA) :
Hot-shot USA striker Josh Sargent is one of the most prolific players who have touched down in the country for this tournament. This will be Sargent’s second World Cup of the year for his country, as he has already represented USA at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Korea.
The USA number nine scored two goals on his debut against Ecuador and by doing so, he came the youngest American player to net a goal in the tournament’s history.
Sargent also played a more than crucial role in helping his team qualify for the tournament in India, as he scored five goals in the qualifying round as well.
Sargent has drawn attention of some of Europe’s top clubs and a move to the football- frenzy continent seems to be on the cards sooner than later.
2. Ayo Akinola (USA) :
Ayo Akinola is a TFC Academy Product.He has scored 24 goals in just 25 appearances for the USA under 17s.
He also played in USL for TFC too. After a spell with the TFC Academy, Akinola was called up to the Toronto FC II set-up during the 2016 USL season.
On December 2, 2015, he made his debut for the Under-17 national team, playing 40 minutes in a 3–2 defeat to England Under-16s. He first goal came against Brazil on March 22, 2016, before netting a brace against Russia on March 26, 2016.
3. Eric Ayiah (Ghana):
Aiyah is the man to look out for from the Ghana camp. The striker peculiarly wears the no. 6 jas a tribute to Ghana’s Independence Day (6 March) which coincidentally is also his birthday. Ayiah who is also the captain of the Ghana side who scored four goals in the first two games of the 2017 AFCON U-17.
4. Ibrahim Sulley (Ghana) :
The youngster having impressed at the Africa Junior Championship was invited for trials at Bayern Munich.
The New Life FC player was one of the revelations at the Africa Junior Championship after he scored a brace in Ghana’s opener against Cameroon.
Sulley’s return will beef Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin’s squad ahead of the World Cup in India.
