Manchester City scouting Italian international midfielder
Manchester City are considering making a move for AS Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini.
Pellegrini, a product of Roma’s academy, graduated in 2007 and made his first team debut in 2015. The 21-year-old Italian international was then sold to Sassuolo in 2015 with a buy-back clause. His impressive form forced the Giallorossi to trigger the buy-back clause and now he is gaining regular first team action both in the Serie A and in the Champions League. A deep-lying playmaker, Pellegrini is very much comfortable on the ball too.
According to Sky Italia Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola sees Pellegrini as a perfect fit for his system and he is keeping a close eye on his progress. It is also rumoured that City sent scouts in Roma vs Hellas Verona match on 16th September to observe Pellegrini closely.
Elsewhere, Football Italia claims that Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is also a big admirer of the Italian and could make a move if Marouane Fellaini decides against staying at the Old Trafford when his current contract runs out next year.
Pellegrini has a €25m release clause in his contract. Although Guardiola is currently observing the Italian’s progress, he could make a serious offer in the coming months.
