Rannvijay Singh becomes co-owner of I-League club
The lovestory between Indian Super League franchises and Bollywood celebrities is well known to all. Several ISL clubs are co-owned by Bollywood personnel or they are somehow attached to them. But in case of I-League, the touch of glamour has remained relatively dimmer both on and off the field.
But as it seems, Minerva Punjab, the new entrants to India’s elite football competition last year have struck a deal with Rannvijay Singh as he has officially become a co-owner of the club. Rannvijay Singh came into limelight after winning the first season of Roadies, a reality show on Indian television. Since then he has been an integral part of MTV India and has played the role of VJ, Anchor or Judge in many shows in MTV and other platforms. His appearances in Bollywood and Punjabi films have also gained prominence.
Singh is a close friend of Ranjit Bajaj, the founder and CEO of Minerva Punjab and they know each other from the first season of Roadies where both were participants. Rannvijay Singh has remained associated with the club but that was almost nominal. Few days ago he was seen posing for photos with Minnerva players which hinted of something new and today his co-ownership of the Mohali based club gets confirmed.
Being a sports-enthusiast Rannvijay owns an adventure sports group. His new venture with his old friend may act as a boon for the newbies of Indian top flight football, especially at a juncture where I-League and it’s clubs require a serious re-schuffle from inside out.
