Manchester City target discusses his future
Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang discusses his links with Manchester City and his views on English Premier League.
Aubameyang has been on the radar of Manchester City since Pep Guardiola’s arrival at the helm of the club. The Spanish boss seems to be a big fan of the 28-year-old Gabonese international striker and wanted him to compete with Aguero for the starting spot at the Etihad.
Aubameyang himself insisted that preliminary talks were held with City representatives on the eve of the 2016/17 season. He was also targeted as an alternative to Alexis Sanchez this summer but nothing was materialised as City opted not to lodge an official offer and Aubameyang stayed at the Signal Iduna Park.
Recently in an interview with French TV show Telefoot, Aubameyang expressed he was never particularly interested in a move to Manchester City or any other English club. “Manchester City interest? The Premier League has never appealed to me. That’s just my opinion.” He was also linked with a move to Chinese Super League but he poured cold water on any such rumour by saying, “there is still a lack of professionalism.”
