Manchester City set to offer €20m for Spanish defender
Espanyol left-back Aaron Martin is set to be the subject of a €20m bid from Manchester City.
Martin, 20, has been in the radar of the Sky Blues from the recently concluded summer transfer window. After City missed out on Dani Alves to PSG, they bought Danilo as a cover for Kyle Walker and were looking forward to sign Aaron Martin as a backup for Benjamin Mendy. With City already having paid a lot on other players and still other priority areas remained unaddressed, Guardiola’s interest on Martin ended up being only an informal approach.
With Mendy injured and set to be sidelined for a minimum of 5-6 months, City are in dire need of a left-back in January transfer window. According to SPORT, Manchester City will go all out for Martin in January.
Martin has a €30m release clause in his contract which will increase upto €40m in the next summer transfer window. But the Sky Blues are confident to snap up the Spaniard by offering €20m to Espanyol in January.
