Serie A Match Preview: AC Milan vs AS Roma
Serie A 2017/18: AC Milan vs AS Roma
High flying Roma return to Serie A play after Wednesday’s Champions League win against Qarabag in Azerbaijani. Roma head into hostile territory as they take a trip down to Milan. Roma are in terrific form at the moment have won four games in a row getting victories against Hellas Verona, Benvento,Udinese and Qarabag’s as the Romans find themselves in 5th with still a game to play one place ahead of AC Milan Roma having won every game other then the controversial loss to Inter Milan.
Both of these clubs went through some major changes over this last summer with Roma losing the likes of Mouhamed Salah, Antonio Rudiger, Leonardo Paredes and Woich Szczęsny as well as seeing their manager leave for Inter. In result they went out and bought 7 players and retained several as well and hired a new manager in Di Francesco. Meanwhile down in Milan is was a money fuled spending spree this summer. As the Milan giants spend over 100 million over the transfer window signing a lot of players.
To be fair to them they signed some GEM’s but the was a sudden over reaction to their business the media and fans were saying oh my god “AC Milan are Back” I thought it was a little crazy to think that because the other big teams were so far ahead in quality allready they just closed the gap in my opinion . It is something that has back fired so far this season yes they have been very good for some of the season but when they have come up against quality sides they have folded losing to Sampdoria last week and Ciro Immobile and Lazio taught them a lesson in their 4-1 victory a few weeks back and earlier this week they looked average against Rijeka in the Europa league. It has shown so far that money cant buy them success. Despite that they are still a very good side however I still see Roma coming out as winners here. This is an excellent side which features I would say two of the 10 best players in this league in the Roman scoring machine the RED HOT Edin Dzeko who allready has 7 goals this season (6 in the League).
The Stats are undeniable the Bosnian striker has scored 21 goals in his last 21 appearances in the league and will be a handful once again this season he is the current holder of the Capocannoniere (Golden Boot) he will be dangerous not only as a scoring but leading the Roma front line he isn’t just a scoring he is dangerous in many ways. Another player that Milan are familiar with his one of the best midfielders in the world in Radja Nainggolan who scored a wonder strike against them last season in a game that derailed their season he will be infectious on defense and on the attack something that will be hard for Milan to deal with. The key to Roma’s attack might be Stephen El Shaarawy the former Milan winger now playing for Roma has scored against Milan in two out of three games against his former club I fancy him to find the back of the net once again as he is in terrific form he has been one of the Roma’s bests in the last few games.
With a solid defense and good goal keeper as well they should do well in this game I fancy them to get the win. However this Milan side is still a very good team and have some defense prowess to counter the Very dangerous attack. With the likes of Ricardo Rodriguez and Leonardo Bonucci two high quality defenders that will make Roma work for their goals. I think Milan have an equal defense to Roma that could benefit them their attack I don’t feel has the same effect. Although I like Andre Silva I don’t think he possess the threat that Dzeko does. When you have a team like this you need to be able to respond to an attack of their own. Franck Kessie is probably Milan’s biggest threat as he is a very good young midfielder so Milan has the players to do it but will it be enough that is the question. I see Roma being challenged by Milan but at the end of the day Roma are the better side I see the three points heading back to Rome with them.
