Sergio Aguero suffers a car accident – likely to be out for two months
Manchester City striker Sergio Agüero has suffered a car accident while returning from Amsterdam today.
Agüero was in Amsterdam to attend a concert lead by Colombian singer Maluma. He was returning in a taxi when it suddenly hit a lamp post.
Agüero was in the passenger’s seat and several reports from Argentina and Netherlands suggest that the striker suffered a fractured rib and has been taken to a local hospital.
The details of the incident is yet to be revealed but reports confirm that Agüero was wearing his seat belt which saved him from severe damage.
The accident is set to keep the 29-year-old on the sidelines for two months, which means he will miss City’s trip to Chelsea this Saturday and Argentina’s World Cup qualifying fixtures against Peru and Ecuador.
Agüero is set to return to Manchester today and will be fully assessed by the club doctors.
Former club Independiente took to social media to wish the forward well: “Strength and quick recovery. All Independiente is with you in this difficult time.”

Agüero has played a crucial role in City’s remarkable exploit this season, scoring seven goals and providing three assists in all competitions so far.
The news comes as a huge setback to City after it was confirmed yesterday that Benjamin Mendy has suffered an ACL injury in his right knee that could potentially see him out for the rest of the season.
