Barcelona to revamp efforts to sign Brazilian star
Philippe Coutinho had reportedly handed in a transfer request at Liverpool this summer to smoothen his move to the Catalan club but was left with no option but to stay at the English club after Liverpool rejected bids as high as £138 mil from the Spanish giants. Meanwhile Barcelona had successfully signed Ousmane Dembele from Borrusia Dortmund in a £135.5 mil deal and Paulinho from Guangzhou Evergrande for £36.4 mil which saw Coutinho’s dream of playing for the star-studded team a distant dream.
In a crazy turn of events since the past few days, Daily mail and the Mirror reports that the Liverpool board will consider bids for their No. 10 again coming January. Barcelona are still believed to be interested in their man whom they think would be a perfect heir to Xavi and Iniesta once he retires.
The 25-year old has already scored once and assisted a goal in the two league matches he has starred in. He was not named in the playing squad for the starting matches due to internal rifts with the board but has made an impact in every match he has played since. He had also made a brief appearance in the Red’s only champions league game so far against Sevilla which ended 2-2 at the Anfield.
The former Inter Milan man would definitely try his best to ease out his move from Liverpool in the coming transfer season. He had openly discussed about his prospects of playing alongside former Liverpool goal-machine Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi, whom he has always admired. Time will tell how Jurgen Klopp coups up with this situation and what lies in store for the talented playmaker though a deal of such magnitude needs a lot of effort to surface.
