Arsenal FC looking to sign Raheem Sterling in January
Premier League side Arsenal FC is prepared to make a bid for Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling in January.
The Gunners attempted to sign the Manchester City player in a player-plus-cash swap deal on deadline day of the summer transfer window, but missed out on him.
Manchester City have been trying to sign Arsenal’s Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez throughout the summer window, but failed to do so. Finally, Arsenal decided to acknowledge the transfer and decided to sell Sanchez, only if they got the services of Raheem Sterling from City.
The former Liverpool FC player has scored three goals already this season for The Citizens, thus City are unwilling to sell the player anytime soon. However, the Gunners are once again ready to reignite their interest in the player.
Reports suggest that Arsenal is ready to make a fresh bid for Sterling, once the transfer window reopens. The Gunners are looking for a top class replacement for Sanchez, who is set to depart once his contract expires next summer.
City’s league rivals Manchester United are also keen on signing the player according to reports, and so are Spanish giants Real Madrid.
With their poor start to the season, Wenger’s men will need a lot of fresh new faces once the transfer window reopens in January. The Gunners are also reportedly looking to bring in Dries Mertens, if the Sterling deal somehow collapses.
