Jan Oblak plays down Juventus rumors
Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak has been recently linked with Serie A champions Juventus, who are looking for a suitable replacement for Gianluigi Buffon.
Tuttosport reported that Juve have already made contact to Oblak’s agents over a possible transfer move. The Italian goalkeeper is all set to retire after the 2018 FIFA World Cup and Juve are already on the hunt for a new first choice keeper. Despite being heavily linked with Slovakian, Jan Oblak it was reported that the Atleti keeper has played down all the rumours regarding a move to Juve.
Alongside Buffon, Oblak, was also named in the UEFA Champions League 2016-17 squad, will be under contract with Atletico Madrid till 2021.
In an interview with AS, Oblak stated that: “I have a contract with Atletico and I’m here. That’s all I can say.”
Oblak is currently in his fourth year with Diego Simeone’s side, and has played a pivotal role in the team’s success over the years. He was played an important role in Atleti’s 2-1 win over Bilbao this Wednesday, when he saved Aritz Aduriz’s first half penalty and made six saves throughout the night.
After the match he stated that every player on the team plays a very important role and are key to victory.
“Penalties are a bit of a lottery and I was able to save one on Wednesday. I wish I could save them all. – Oblak told to Atletico’s official website.
Simeone’s side are currently unbeaten in the La Liga this season, and are four points behind league leaders FC Barcelona.
