Estadio Mendizorrotza gearing up for father-son contest!
The day in Vitoria was red marked by Zidane family as soon as La Liga fixture was announced.
Neither El Clasico nor Madrid derby,it’s all about father-son rivalry as Real Madrid’s manager Zidane will face his son Enzo against Alaves. Both of them will be defending colours of their respected teams. The blanquiazuls signed the Real Madrid academy player who is growing up to be a big phenomenon having tremendous ball control and quick feet. The confrontation was imagined as a special day, however, the results of both teams have complicated things a lot and there’s now a lot at stake at Mendizorroza.
Alaves haven’t even managed to score this season, a disastrous run of form that saw the sacking of coach Zubeldia. Real Madrid on the other hand has better position though they disappointed the fans in the homeground all three matches falling seven points behind first ranked Barcelona. There will be a reunion of father and son and both will be finding themselves in a tough challenging situation battling for points on Saturday.
Asked how he felt about going up against the 22-year-old midfielder, Zidane told a news conference: “I hope he doesn’t score! We are both very competitive, him for himself and me for me. It will be a little bit strange but I’m happy for him, he’s working hard, he’s at a side that is not doing great at the moment but they’ve got a good squad and they are working well.” Questioned further about what the match will mean to him on a personal level, Zidane said: “[I’m] not really thinking too much about that. Yes, of course, in some ways it will be a bit more emotional but it’s Real Madrid against Alaves, nothing else.”
