Serie A giants Juventus are currently monitoring Jan Oblak as a possible future replacement for Gianluigi Buffon.

The Italian goalkeeper has announced he will hang up his gloves after the 2018 World Cup in Russia. With Buffon set to retire in one year’s time, Juve are already looking for a possible replacement for the 39 year old. Current Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak is expected to be the new replacement for Buffon.

According to TuttoSport via TMW, Oblak is set to be the new number one at the Allianz stadium. It has also been reported that following interest from Juve, Oblak has refused to sign a new contract at Atletico Madrid, hinting towards a possible exit.

Juventus’ representatives have reportedly contacted the player in order to set the deal in motion for a possible transfer in the future.

The Old Lady are reportedly looking to offer a total of 89 million for the Slovakian keeper, in order to release him from his current transfer clause. Despite signing former Arsenal goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny, Juventus are also desperate to get the signature of Oblak.

However, Premier League teams Arsenal FC and Liverpool FC have been keeping a close eye on Oblak for a long time now. The 24 year old has the reputation of being one of Europe’s finest goalkeepers thanks to his eye catching performances in Spain.

Oblak signed for Atletico back in 2014, and has made 79 appearances for the club in the past three years. The Slovakian has been a huge figure for Atletico, and has been influential for them between the goalposts.
