Jesus Navas finds the net as Sevilla goes past stern Las Palmas

1 31

Sevilla fans were in for a treat when their local boy, Jesus Navas scored a right footed shot to prove the only deciding goal when the clock struck 83rd minute in a 1-0 victory over minnows Las Palmas. In a tightly fought match between title favorites Sevilla and 12th placed Palmas, Sevilla chiefs should be elated by the fact that their gamble on re-signing Navas from Manchester City has surfaced well enough.

Sevilla dominated the match with roughly 60% of the possession and attempting a total of 14 shots. Las Palmas, on the other hand, never looked solid throughout the match and eventually lost their plot. They managed a meagre total of six shots and zero shots on target.

Sevilla boss Eduardo Berizzo will definitely sleep well after his team’s recent form. They have now won 4 out of the played 5 matches including a 1-1 draw at home against Espanyol.

They are currently second on the La Liga standings, only 2 behind leaders Barcelona and 2 ahead of Athletico Madrid. The game saw a total of 4 yellow cards shown to two players of each team.

Sevilla’s next fixture will test them to full potential when they travel to the newly built Wanda Metropolitano to face Athletico Madrid on 23rd of September. Las Palmas next face Leganes at home for game-week 6 action.
